It was a testing two days for the riders
at the final event of the year. The Highland Club put on a superb forest
based enduro with a sandy special test similar to ISDE tests of the past.
The course was of a technical and
tight nature with some big climbs in the forest and lots of roots.
The course was slippy to start but
improved as the day went on and a clear black line developed.
The test started on the concrete base of
an old weighbridge then fired up into a sand quarry with lots of turns and
some steep climbs.
The Championship classes were all to play
for with numerous battles going down to the final day. Alex Pringle surely
one of the bravest rides after injuring his leg on day one but riding day
two and finishing 2nd to claim the over 40 title - equal on points and
places but his final day performance just edging it over Gavin Johnstone.
In Experts Andrew Bisset won both days
with Cai Hewitt 2nd on Sat and Sam Boyd 2nd on Sunday. Andrew posting just
over 3 min laps on Sat and then getting sub 3 mins on Sunday.
In the Over 40's Mitchelll Brown was 1st
on both days to record his first ever win and a very happy rider. Alex
Pringle and Gavin Johnston swapping 2nd and 3rd places as they fought for
the championship.
Stevie Durrand and David MacGillivary
competed in the Expert B class enjoying the extra lap.
In Clubman Felix Beavitt dominated as he
has all year with a fine ride for the Championship before he moved up to
Expert on Sunday . Alister Barr and Jake Reid finished 2nd and 3rd on Sat
and 1st and 2nd on Sunday after after a very tight contest over both days.
Robbie Allan in Over 50's had a great
ride winning both days with Neil Dawson chasing hard all weekend . Ritchie
Finnie only rode the Sunday but chased Robbie for a close 2nd . Dean Barr
close behind.
In Clubman B Mikey Durdle had a great
ride for the win on Saturday with Jamie Douglas coming all the way from over
the Border for 2nd and a first on Sunday. Robert Graham coming 3rd then 2nd
on Sunday . Archie Manners close on their heels for for a fine 4th and 3rd.
Sportsman Ryan Jamieson showed some fine
speed with wins on both days with John Weir 2nd both days . Donald Mackenzie
3rd on Sat and Jason Miller 3rd on Sunday
The always competitive Over 50 vets class
had a fine win from Steven Clark on Saturday followed by Mike Glass and Alan
Strachan. Then Mike Glass taking the win on Sunday from Alan Strachan by
less than a second with Steven Clark having to settle for third.
Another great event from the Highland
club and a fine finish to the Enduro Season.
Thanks to Clerk of the Course Jim Mair
and the club members and thanks to Altyre Estate for a great venue.
